While choosing the treats you want to take with you, you may give room to your own creativity. As long as it is small and easy to carry, everything is allowed. We got some ideas for you to try:

Lotta's filled puff pastries

(Prep: 30min / backing: 25min)

Ingredients

  • 2 packages puff pastry (plates
  • 150g cream cheese nature
  • A handful of diced bacon
  • A handful of dried tomatoes
  • Spring onions to taste
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

1. Line two baking sheets with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 200° C.

2. Braise the spring onions lightly and roast the bacon gently. Afterwards cut the dried tomatoes and mix the cream cheese with the spring onions, the bacon and the tomatoes. Cut the ham into small pieces. Wash leek, cut in half and then in small slices. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Take a teaspoon of the mixture and place it in the middle of a plate. Now adhere two edges to each other. While in the oven, the puff pastry will rise so it encloses the mix completely.

4. Bake the puff pastries in the hot oven for about 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

Refreshing Ice tea - hot brewed

To make a classic ice tea, you have to brew it first and then cool it down abrupt. Here is how it works:

Preparation

1. Choose your favorite tea - a black one will work best. You should take 1,5-fold the amount of tea, because you will fill it up with ice cubes later.

2. Boil the water and brew your tea. Allow it to infuse they way you like it best but remember: The longer you wait the bitter it gets. Now sweeten it to your gusto.

3. Take a carafe and fill it with ice cubes. Now pour the still warm tea over it to abruptly cool it down. Because of the meltwater from the ice cubes the tea won’t be too strong but will be the normal tea-water-ratio.

To make your picnic perfect, here are a few more tips:

  • Pack your dressing separately. This way your salad will stay fresh all the way and won’t be soaked with the dressing.
  • Sprinkle your fruits with lemon juice and they won’t go brown again
  • You need fresh ice cubes all the time? Just but it in a Thermos bottle, because in there they stay moveable for a long time. You might even stow the bottle in a cooler so the ice cubes would stay cool for a bit longer
  • Wrap your drinks in a blanket. This way they are stored in the dark and will stay cool for a longer time. Freeze the drinks before leaving for a picnic
